About Swing
Swing Yoga Cards is a family business! These beautiful cards are designed and hand illustrated by Maria Marpegán, a yoga instructor and accomplished aerial and circus artist from Argentina. Maria has been teaching yoga to kids and adults in Bariloche, Argentina, for almost 20 years. Maria had the idea for these yoga cards many years ago, but the pandemic finally gave her the time to create the cards and bring her dream to life.
Maria’s sister, Ginnie, who lives in Gilbert, Arizona, is a yoga enthusiast herself. Ginnie knew that these cards needed to be available to children, adults, and professionals (yoga teachers, physical therapists, and kids’ therapists, for example) in the USA. Together they decided to launch Swing Yoga Cards and work together as a family, even their mom got involved. Rosie, who herself used to be a yoga teacher, is a professional translator and helped in the creation of the Spanish and English language versions.
We hope you enjoy them, as much as we have enjoyed creating them.

Meet Maria!
Hello! I’m Maria and I was lucky enough to grow up in the beautiful Patagonian forests in and around El Bolsón, Argentina. In this stunning part of the world, a connection with nature and the arts have been a constant, nurturing presence in my life. I now live in San Carlos de Bariloche, Argentina with my husband, Damian, and my son, Julian.
As a girl I learned about yoga from my parents; my mother was a yoga instructor. There were always pencils, paint, brushes, and paper around the house. Both my grandmother Gwen, and my mother, Rosie, have inspired me as artists and painters.
I am a circus artist and fire dancer. In 2001, I traveled to England to train as an aerobatics instructor (aerial acrobatics in fabric). I teach aerobatics to adults, children, and groups. In 2005, I also trained as a yoga instructor and have been teaching yoga classes to kids, adults, and groups ever since.
I am also an intrepid traveler, a wife and mother, and I build mud houses and cultivate abundant orchards! There was a silver lining to the pandemic for me. 2020 gave me the time to finalize the illustrated yoga cards that I had been dreaming about creating for years.
I am so excited to have worked with my family to bring them to you – I hope you and your kids, or your patients, enjoy them as much as we do!
Meet Ginnie!
Hi – I’m Ginnie! Just like my (slightly!) younger sister Maria, I was lucky enough to spend my teenage years surrounded by the gorgeous mountains, lakes, and forests of Patagonia. I think that’s why I’ve always had a deep connection to the earth, to Mother Nature, and to the practices of yoga and meditation that replicate the peace and calm I found in those surroundings.
I left Argentina for England in 1993 at the age of 18; that’s where I met my future husband, David. Together, we moved to the United States in 2006. David and I now live in Gilbert, Arizona, with Axel, our German Shepherd. When the stresses of city life become too much, to this day the mountains now call to me often – but now it is the White Mountains of Arizona, not the Andes of Patagonia.
Just like Maria, I have been a yoga enthusiast since I was a child – our mother’s influence I think! Although I’ve never taught yoga, I have been student for years! Growing up in an artistic family, I still enjoy drawing, painting, and coloring, although Maria is far more talented than I am in that department.
When not working with my sister on Swing, I have a successful marketing consultancy business with my husband. I enjoy travel, hiking, keeping fit, and the occasional glass of Malbec. I’m currently in training for a same-day hike in and out of the Grand Canyon later this year. Wish me luck!
I love that technology has advanced to the point where I’ve been able to work on this passion project with Maria for the past couple of years even though we live 5,800 miles apart. They are made with love, and we trust that you will love them just as much as we do!
